Practical Beauty Tips for Busy New Moms

Practical Beauty Tips for Busy New Moms

The life of a new mom typically consists of feeding your baby, periodical sleep, changing diapers, and preparing meals while trying to keep the house in order at the same time. With all of this, it’s quite challenging to find time for a beauty routine.

Naturally, this doesn’t mean you need to neglect yourself and your needs. It only means you need to reorganise as you don’t have as much time as before. Here are a few new mom beauty tips to help you master a multi-tasking routine on the go.

Treat breakouts overnight

Even the best of us get spots and blemishes, but it’s especially common among new moms due to hormonal surges and stress. The most practical way to deal with these breakouts is to treat them the night before. Use a product containing zinc or ibuprofen, and apply it to the problem spot. Working overnight, it will reduce swelling and redness, and it will also cut down on cover-up time in the morning.

Skip the complex foundation routine

A full-scale makeup routine can hardly be fitted into a busy schedule of a new mom. So, instead of doing a complex foundation routine, switch to a tinted moisturizer with SPF. This product moisturizes your skin and covers up your blemishes, dark circles and uneven spots at the same time. Also, the SPF protects your skin against sun damage. This is a great and practical solution for busy new moms that are often too sleep-deprived to go without makeup but are also chronically short on time to manage a full face of foundation.

Be resourceful

Looking after the kids while running errands or even working remotely is certainly overwhelming and at times, it can feel like an impossible mission! One thing that can help you maintain a great look is to pack a travel-sized collection of beauty products that you can carry everywhere.

Stack your bag of goodies with travel-sized makeup like lipsticks, mascara, tinted lip balm, dry shampoo, sunscreen, hand cream and a mini perfume. Keep it in your car, so even if you have no time to glam up before you leave, you can touch up while everyone is settling in.

Pump up your hair

Every mom is a multi-tasking ninja and a master of organisation, but even that doesn’t guarantee you’ll have time to do your hair every day. However, there’s no need to despair! One solution is to braid your damp hair before going to bed and simply shake out the loose waves in the morning. The tighter your hair is braided, the more defined waves will be.

Another great quick fix that will boost your hair volume is using the best clip in extensions. It doesn’t matter that your hair isn’t long enough. These extensions will add both length and volume and allow you to play with different hairstyles in a matter of minutes. When you’re in a rush to get everything ready, having a great hairdo in no time can make all the difference.

Dry shampoo is a must-have

There will be days when even a wash and a hair-do will be too much work, which is when dry shampoo takes centre stage combined with a messy, cool bun. The idea of not washing your hair every other day is off-putting as it usually means dealing with an oily scalp, but now, you have a solution – dry shampoo soaks up excess oil and makes your hair smell fresh and look great.

Accessorize

Finally, you should always have a few cool accessories at hand that you can simply add to your wardrobe choice of the day and instantly enhance your look. One great accessory is a colourful scarf. You probably already have a substantial collection that you can finally put to good use. A scarf can instantly brighten up your look even if you’re wearing the plainest mom jeans and a T-shirt. It can also double as a nursing cover and a convenient cover-up for any spit-up or food stains.

Earrings are another great accessory that will lighten up your face and draw the eye away from messy hair. Pick a few pairs that will be your signature pieces and you’ll be getting compliments in no time!

It isn’t easy to take care of yourself when you need to take care of others first and you’re constantly short on time, but this doesn’t mean that as a new mom you can’t look amazing. With a bit of time management, a few good clothing items, accessories and the tips listed here, you’ll be soon rocking a great look and handling things with ease!
