In the cave of Amarnath, the snow forms a natural Shivling. The way to reach here is full of challenges. Despite problems like adverse weather, landslides, lack of oxygen, lakhs of devotees reach here.

The history of this shrine of Shiva is thousands of years old. The snow droplets continuously drip on the Shivling located here, which creates a 10-12 feet high Shivling. Along with Shivling in the cave, icebergs of Sriganesh, Parvati and Bhairava are also built.

 

Hemkund SahibHemkund Sahib

Time-  1 – 2 day

Hemkund Sahib, located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, is a major religious site of Sikhs. There is a lake made of ice surrounded by seven huge mountains, also known as Hemkund Mountains. It is believed that Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru in Hemkund Sahib, did penance for nearly 20 years. Where Guruji did penance, there remains a gurudwara. Situated lake is called Hem Sarovar. The weather of Hemkund Sahib is favorable for trekking from June to October. During this time, the maximum temperature is 25 degrees and the minimum temperature is -4 degrees. To reach here one has to pass through glaciers and snow covered paths.

Time- 28 day

Shiva’s abode is believed to be Mount Kailash and this mountain is located in the occupied Tibet of China. This journey is one of the most difficult pilgrimage. There is a lake here, which is called Mansarovar. It is believed that Goddess Parvati takes bath here. According to popular stories, this lake was born from Brahmaji’s mind. Kailash mountain is located near this. This place is considered very sacred in Hinduism as well as Buddhism. The blue water of Mansarovar is a center of attraction and faith for tourists. The yatra traditionally takes place from the Lipulekh Uttarakhand route and the new route to Sikkim Nathula.

 

Vaishno DeviVaishno Devi

(Jammu)

Trekking- 14.5 kilometers

Time– 12 – 15 hours

Vaishnodevi temple is located in Reasi district of Jammu. This temple is situated on the Trikuta mountain. The Bhairav ​​temple is located in the Bhairav ​​valley here. According to belief, Bhairav’s body is present in the old cave located here. It was here that Mata killed Bhairav ​​with his trident and flew his head into Bhairava valley and the body remained in this cave. The Ganges water flows in the ancient cave. To reach the Vaishno Devi temple one has to cross many stops. One of these stages is Adyakunvari.

The doors of Kedarnath Dham have opened on Wednesday, 29 April. One of the twelve Jyotirlingas is Jyotirlinga Kedarnath. This temple is located in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. It is believed that in ancient times, Nara-Narayana, the incarnation of Vishnu in Badrivan, worshiped in this area by making a Parthiv Shivling. Pleased with the devotion of Nar-Narayan, Shiva appeared. The Kedarnath Temple was built by King Janamejaya of the Pandava dynasty and Adi Guru Shankaracharya renovated the temple.

16 km trekking from Gaurikund to Kedarnath begins. Beautiful views are seen along the banks of the Mandakini River. A journey also takes place from Guptkashi. In the new route, the journey starts from Sitapur or Sonprayag. More tracking has to be done on the Guptkashi route.

 

Shrikhand MahadevShrikhand Mahadev

(Kullu, Himachal Pradesh)

Trekking– 36 kilometre

Time-  5- 7 day

Srikhand Mahadev Shivling is located in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. The height of Shivalinga here is about 75 feet. For this journey one has to reach the Jaan region. There is about 32 km trekking from here. In the route, there are temples of Mata Parvati, Parashurama Temple, Dakshineswar Mahadev, Hanuman Temple. It is believed that he had given a boon to Bhasmasura from Shiva that he would put his hand on his head and be consumed. Then Lord Vishnu persuaded Bhasmasura to dance at this place. While dancing, Bhasmasura kept his hand on his head, which consumed him.

 

Nanda Devi YatraNanda Devi Yatra

Time- 3 week

Nandadevi travels once every 12 years in the Chamoli region of Uttarakhand. This journey leading to the Nanda Devi Mountain passes through small villages and temples. It starts from the village of Naughty in Karnaprayag. The yatra was organized in 2014. It is believed that every 12 years, Nanda Maa. Goddess Parvati reaches her maternal home and after staying there for a few days, Nanda is released by the devotees to Mount Ghungthi. Ghunghati Mountain is considered to be the abode of Shiva and Laws house of Nanda.

 

ManimaheshManimahesh

(Chamba, Himachal Pradesh)

Height- 5650 Meter

Trekking- 14 kilomtter

Time- 9 day

Manimahesh is located in Chamba district of Himachal. Here Shiva appears as a gem. The temple is in the Bharmour region. Bharmour was the capital of King Maruvarma of the Maru dynasty. One also has to go through the Budhil Valley to visit Manimahesh. Devotees reach to see the lake located here.

 

ShikharjiShikharji

(Jharkhand, giridih)

Trekking- 30 kilometres

Time- 1-2 day

Shikharji, the major pilgrimage center of Jainism, is located in Giridih district of Jharkhand. This temple is built on the highest hill in Jharkhand. In this region, 20 of the 24 Tirthankaras of Jainism attained salvation.

 

YamunotriYamunotri

(Uttarakhand, Uttarkashi)

Trekking- 6 kilometer

Time- 8- 9 hours

This temple of Yamunadevi is one of the Chardhams of Uttarakhand. Yamunotri Temple is located in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. It is the origin of the river Yamuna and is situated on the high mountains. Trekking of 6 km from Hanuman Chatti is required and Trekking of Janaki Chatti is around 4 km.

Phugtal means Phuktal is located in Zanskar region of Ladakh. The Buddhist monastery is situated here at an altitude of 3850 meters. This temple is believed to be of 12th century.

Trekking- 5 kilometers

Time- 8- 10 hours

Tungnath Shiva Temple is located in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. In relation to the temple, it is believed that it is thousand years old. The Mandakini River and the Alaknanda River flow here. Chopta Chandrashila trek in this region is a center of attraction for tourists.

 

GaumukhGaumukh

Time- 2-3 day

Gangotri is located in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand state. Gaumukh is about 18 km from here. This is believed to be the origin of Ganga. The Ganges in this region is called Bhagirathi. This region is one of the four dhams of Uttarakhand.

Time- 1-2 day

Rudranath Temple is located in Garhwal, Uttarakhand. There is a temple of Shiva. Its elevation is 3,600 meters above sea level. It is believed that Rudranath temple was established by the Pandavas. All the Pandavas arrived here in search of Shiva. The Pandavas came here to atone for the sins of the warriors killed in the Mahabharata war.
