Beginning of Basant Panchami
There is a mythological belief that Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, appeared on the day of Basant Panchami. When Brahma ji, the creator of the universe, created the world, he felt something was missing because there was no sound in it. He sprinkled water on the earth from his kamandalu. The earth started shaking and Goddess Saraswati appeared. He had veena, rosary and book in his hands. Goddess Saraswati played Vasant Raga with her Veena. Creation gained speech and music from the sound of his veena. Along with speech, the Goddess gave knowledge and wisdom, which gave the world the light of knowledge. Therefore, special worship of Saraswati is done on the day of Basant Panchami.

Basant Panchami is a symbol of new beginning in life. Crops start ripening with the spring season. Due to the end of cold, the weather becomes pleasant due to which nature starts filling with colors and flowers start blooming. This day is considered auspicious for starting new things. All these things are celebrated as the festival Basant Panchami.
